Why You’ll Love This Recipe
One of my favorite things is making a recipe that my daughter loves. These apple cider popsicles are now one of her favorites! And with good reason, too, because they’re cool and refreshing. There’s something nostalgic about popsicles, too. On top of that, they’re made with wholesome ingredients, so indulge your inner child!
Nutrition For Mental Health
One medium-sized apple contains 25.1 grams of carbohydrates (4.37 grams of fiber), 0.3 grams of fat, and 0.48g of protein. They are rich in antioxidants, specifically quercetin, catechin, and chlorogenic acid. Apples are also a good source of vitamin C and potassium. A comprehensive review found many studies that show quercetin has antidepressant effects.
Ingredients + Substitutions
This apple popsicle recipe only has a few ingredients, so if you’re missing one of them, here’s what to do!
- Apple cider: You can easily use apple juice in place of apple cider if needed.
- Apple: I recommend using whatever type of apple you have on hand. For us, that usually means Honeycrips or Pink Lady.
- Nut butter: If you want some creamy goodness added to your apple juice popsicles, then add two tablespoons of almond butter to the popsicle molds. (You won’t regret it!)
A full list of ingredients with exact amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

- Add apple cider, dates, and cinnamon to a small bowl (or liquid measuring cup) and whisk to combine.

- Place 3-4 apple slices into each popsicle mold and pour the liquid mixture over the top.

- Add popsicle sticks and freeze until completely frozen (around 4 hours).

Servings Ideas
Apple juice popsicles are a fantastic snack, though they’re also wonderful as a refreshing dessert at the end of your meal. Planning to host some friends and family for a casual gathering? Start with my vegan leek potato soup and arugula spinach salad with citrus sweet onion dressing. Serve my vegetable pot pie, and then bring out my vegan apple pie and those apple popsicles for dessert. Drinks are a must too, and my pomegranate limeade or cranberry lemonade make any occasion feel fancier, and allow guests of all ages to enjoy something special.
Storage Tips
Apple cider popsicles need to be kept in the freezer. They disappear fast, but thankfully, they’re easy to make again and again!
FAQ
This recipe makes it super-simple to do by adding chopped dates and apples with cinnamon into popsicle molds, then pouring the cider on top and freezing.
Pure juices that are 100% juice are the best to freeze for popsicles. You won’t have to worry about added sugar in them. You can make your own, too, if you wish, though, for something convenient, shop for brands that don’t contain added sugar.
Sugar in popsicles lowers the freezing point of the popsicle mixture, which keeps it from becoming as solid as ice. Even if you’re using juice with no added sugar, the natural sugars in the juice will create the same result.
