Nutrition For Mental Health

Here at Raepublic, we are all about how food can impact your mood! Matcha tea is rich in antioxidants and contains more caffeine than regular green tea. That being said, matcha contains a compound called L-theanine that alters the effect of caffeine, which helps avoid a caffeine crash [1]. An animal study found that matcha tea has an antidepressant-like effect [2].

Recipe Variations

This matcha latte with mango is very simple, using minimal ingredients. So, there aren’t very many variations to recommend.

  • Sweetener: This homemade tropical matcha uses absolutely no added sugar. That being said, if you want to make it sweeter, I recommend using liquid sugar like maple syrup or agave. Either of these will combine well, even with cold liquid. If you only have cane sugar on hand, then make sure to add it to the hot matcha so it will dissolve!
  • Milk: We usually have oat milk on hand, so that is what I used in this recipe. However, I always recommend using your favorite milk. Homemade cashew milk, almond milk, hemp milk, or soy milk are all great options. Remember that oat milk is naturally sweeter, so if you opt for another milk alternative, you may wish to add some sugar to this mango matcha drink.

The perfect homemade mango matcha latte using just three simple ingredients. Now, if you’ve made it this far and realize you don’t have any mango on hand, then I highly recommend trying this Strawberry Matcha Recipe instead!
