  • Maple Syrup: I always choose maple syrup to add sweetness in a natural way that combines seamlessly with the other ingredients.

  • Juice: You could use pineapple juice or another juice to add even more fruity flavor. Just make sure it’s 100% natural and not loaded with added sugar.
  • Pineapple Chunks: If you don’t know how to peel and core a whole pineapple (or you just plain don’t want to), you can use pineapple chunks or even frozen pineapple. You can also throw some pineapple chunks into the mix after it is blended to add some texture. 
  • Sweetener: My go-to for these kinds of recipes is always maple syrup because it blends perfectly. Agave nectar is another great option, or for a sugar-free option, liquid stevia. 
  • Coconut Milk: Instead of water, coconut milk can add a bit more creamy complexity, plus a fantastic hint of coconuts.
