For the best hummus recipe, gather ingredients like chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, parsley, cumin, black pepper, salt, and ice water on a white surface.
  • Chickpeas: I like to use freshly cooked chickpeas. However, canned chickpeas work well too. Make sure to rinse them thoroughly, and you’re good to go! If you’d like to cook your own garbanzo beans for this recipe, How To Cook Dried Chickpeas.
  • Tahini: The right tahini can make all the difference. I always recommend using what you have on hand or what you can easily find at your local grocery store. • Tahini: If you can’t find any, I recommend purchasing this organic tahini. If you decide to omit it, then I recommend making this Classic Hummus Without Tahini instead.
  • Oil: Traditional hummus is made and topped with high-quality olive oil. I 100% recommend using olive oil in this easy hummus recipe with tahini. However, if you just can’t find any, then avocado oil would be my second choice.
