Nutrition For Mental Wellbeing

One serving of beets contains 10g of carbohydrates, 2g of fiber, 0.2g of fat, and 1.7g of protein. Beets are an excellent source of antioxidants and folate. They are also a good source of manganese and contain small amounts of copper, potassium, magnesium, iron, vitamins C and B6.

An animal study found that beetroot juice can alter cortisol levels, leading to serotonin synthesis, and can positively impact anxiety and depression.

Why Love Beets?

Love Beets are made at their own state-of-the-art production facility in Rochester, New York, with most of their beets grown nearby in upstate New York. This is important to me because many companies (if not most) produce their food in third-party facilities, giving them less control over their product. In contrast, when it’s produced in-house, you get complete oversight and control, creating higher-quality products. Having the majority of their beets grown nearby also leads to fewer nutrients being lost through shipping and storage, so you’re really getting the best of the best with these guys.

Ingredients + Notes

A vibrant root vegetable is the star of the show in this ruby-red lemonade.

Top-down view of various ingredients labeled as water, lemon juice, organic beet juice, maple syrup, and fresh rosemary arranged on a dark surface with two whole beets and their greens—perfect for crafting an easy beet recipe.
  • Lemon juice: Freshly squeezed from fresh lemons makes for the best tart flavor.
  • Beetroot juice: Made with Love Beets Organic Beet Juice, adding a lovely ruby color and earthy sweetness.
  • Maple syrup: I love using maple syrup as a sweetener because it saves you time and dissolves perfectly in liquid.
  • Water

Recipe Variations

Even if this was one of your favorite recipes, sometimes substitutions are needed. Here are my recommendations.

  • Sweetener: I always recommend maple syrup as a sweetener in drinks, but if you don’t like it or don’t have any on hand, I recommend using agave. Alternatively, dissolve cane sugar in half of a cup of hot water and use that.
  • Ginger: Add a splash of ginger juice for a spicy flavor that pairs well with the tart lemonade.
